What if a prophecy did not come to pass as expected?

What if a prophecy did not come to pass as expected?

If a prophecy does not come to pass as expected, there can be several possibilities. For example:

1) We need to check if we have access to the most original words used in the original prophecy when it was given, and that we do not add nor retract from them.
→ The most original words given can matter to not misunderstand the original meaning of a prophecy.

2) The language used in a prophecy can be misunderstood.
→ If so, the expectations attached to this prophecy can be misunderstood as a consequence.

3) A prophecy can have conditions.
→ It is possible for conditions to exist for a prophecy to come or not come to pass.

4) Implied expectations regarding the role of prophecies may be misunderstood
→ For example, prophecies are not necessarily meant to come to pass, as they also do not necessarily communicate God's ideal.

5) A prophecy can be false.
→ If so, we do not have to believe it.

You can find below more details:

1) We need to check if we have access to the most original words used:

We need to check if we have access to the most original words used in the original prophecy when it was given.

The most original words given can matter to not misunderstand the original prophecy.

It is also important to check if no other words were added or retracted (but only what was explicitly said was taken into account, not more not less).

This is why it can be profitable that prophecies are recorded, so that nothing may be forgotten of what was actually said. This can also be profitable because prophecies are not necessarily understood automatically and so preserving the original words as they were given can insure the preservation of their original meanings.

It is also important to check if additional personal hopes or desires may not have been implicitly added to these original words. It is possible that a fulfillment may not stand up to additional personal unfulfilled hopes that may have been added unto the original words.

2) The language used in a prophecy can be misunderstood:

A prophecy is not necessarily understood automatically.

As a consequence, the language used in a prophecy can be initially misunderstood. If so, the expectations attached to this prophecy can also be misunderstood.

For example it is written about John the Baptist that "HE-WENT into all the surrounding-region (of) the Jordan, proclaiming (a) baptism (of) repentance for (the) forgiveness (of) sins, AS IT-HAS-BEEN-WRITTEN in (the) book (of the) words (of) Isaiah the prophet [in Isaiah 40:3-5], “(A) voice (of one) shouting in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way (of the) Lord; be-making His paths straight. EVERY VALLEY WILL-BE-FILLED and EVERY MOUNTAIN AND HILL WILL-BE-MADE-LOW" (Luke 3:3-5). If somebody had been expecting that when John the Baptist comes "EVERY MOUNTAIN AND HILL WILL-BE-MADE-LOW" (Luke 3:5) in Judea in a literal way then they would have not have seen what they would have been expecting from the language used, and even possibly feel quite underwhelmed with the fulfillement if it does come to pass.

The language used in prophecies can be understood in certain ways
