Prophecies are not necessarily understood automatically

Prophecies are not necessarily understood automatically.

You can find evidence for that below.

People can ask themselves what a prophecy might mean (even if they already had received the Holy Spirit):

It is written about Peter that "(a) voice again (came) to him for (a) second (time), “(The things) which God made-clean, don’t you be-making-defiled”. And this took-place three-times, and immediately the object was-taken-up into heaven" (Acts 10:15-16).

As a result, it is written that "Peter WAS-BEING-GREATLY-PERPLEXED within himself (as to) WHAT THE VISION WHICH HE-SAW MIGHT-MEAN" (Acts 10:17).

In the same chapter, Peter indicated that he already had received the Holy Spirit before that, as after witnessing others receiving the Holy Spirit Peter said about them "who RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT AS also WE (DID)" (Acts 10:47).

People can have no understanding after a prophecy was given:

It is written that after a vision was given, Daniel indicated that no one was understanding it, as he wrote: "I was fainting AT THE VISION, and THERE WAS NO ONE UNDERSTANDING (IT)" (Daniel 8:27).

Jesus said: "the Son (of) Man is-going to-be-handed-over into (the) hands (of) men" (Luke 9:44), and the next verse indicates: "BUT THE (DISCIPLES) WERE NOT UNDERSTANDING THIS STATEMENT" (Luke 9:45).

People can discuss what some part of a prophecy might mean:

It is written about Jesus and His disciples that "(while) they (were) coming-down from the mountain, He-gave orders (to) them that they-should-relate (to) no-one (the things) which they-saw, except when the Son (of) Man RISES-UP FROM (THE) DEAD (ONES)" (Mark 9:9).

As a result, it is written about the disciples that "they-held the matter to themselves, DISCUSSING WHAT THE ‘RISING-UP FROM (THE) DEAD (ONES)’ MEANT" (Mark 9:10).

People can end up asking for what some part of a prophecy mean:

It is written about Zachariah that he was shown a vision as an angel talked to him, in which included the sight of "seven oil funnels to the lamps above it; and TWO OLIVE-TREES above it, ONE ON (THE) RIGHT OF THE TORCH, AND ONE ON (THE) LEFT" (Zechariah 4:3).

As a result, it is written Zachariah asked the angel about the signification of some things in the vision, as Zachariah "said to him, “WHAT (ARE) THESE TWO OLIVE-TREES ON (THE) RIGHT OF THE TORCH AND ON (THE) LEFT?" (Zechariah 4:11), "And he said to me, “You know what these are, do you not?” But I said, “No, O lord.”" (Zechariah 4:13). Because Zachariah truly did not understand what these things meant, the angel "said, “These (are) the two sons of the richness having stood by the LORD of all of the earth.”" (Zechariah 4:14).

People can misunderstand what some words of a prophecy were referring to:

It is written that "Jesus responded and said (to) them, “Destroy THIS TEMPLE, and in three days I-will-raise it”" (John 2:19).

As a result, the Jews hearing those words thought that "THIS TEMPLE" (John 2:19) would be referring to the temple made of stones in Jerusalem that was standing there in the 1st century, as in this context Jesus said those words in "JERUSALEM. And in THE TEMPLE" (John 2:13-14) in Jerusalem made of stones. And so they answered: "Then the Jews said, “THIS TEMPLE was-built (for) forty and six years, and You will-raise it in three days?”" (John 2:20).

But then it is indicated that Jesus was in contrast referring to something else with the words "THIS TEMPLE" (John 2:19) as it is then written: "BUT that (One) was-speaking about THE TEMPLE (OF) HIS BODY" (John 2:21).

People can misunderstand the logic behind words of a prophecy:

It is written that Peter pointed to another disciple, as "Peter, having-looked-at this (one), says (to) Jesus, “Lord, and what (of) this (one)? Jesus says (to) him, “IF I-WANT HIM TO-REMAIN UNTIL I-COME, WHAT (IS IT) TO YOU?" (John 21:21-22).

As a result, someone people extrapolated what the words of Jesus meant, as it is written: "Therefore this statement went-out to the brothers, that “THAT DISCIPLE DOES NOT DIE”. BUT JESUS DID NOT SAY (TO) HIM THAT HE-DOES NOT DIE, BUT “IF I-WANT HIM TO-REMAIN UNTIL I-COME, WHAT (IS IT) TO YOU?”" (John 21:23).

People can lack understanding in how a prophecy would be fulfilled (even if the prophecy itself was understood):

It is written that "Jesus was-troubled (in His) spirit. And He-testified and said “Truly, truly, I-say (to) you that ONE OF YOU WILL HAND ME OVER" (John 13:21).

As a result, the disciples were seeking to understand who that person was, as it is then written: "The disciples WERE-LOOKING AT ONE-ANOTHER, BEING-PERPLEXED ABOUT WHOM HE-WAS-SPEAKING" (John 13:22).
