Prophecies can be about the future, the present and the past
Prophecies can be about the future, the present and the past
Prophecies can be about the future, but also about the present and the past.
You can find evidence for that below.
Prophecies can be about the future:
PROPHECIES can be about the FUTURE.
For example, it is written:
"Micah of Moresheth PROPHESIED in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah. And he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, So says Jehovah of Hosts: Zion SHALL BE plowed like a field, and Jerusalem SHALL BECOME heaps" (Jeremiah 26:18 (Masoretic)).
"Son of man, set your face towards the mountains of Israel and PROPHESY against them. And say, Mountains of Israel, hear the Word of the Lord Jehovah: So says the Lord Jehovah to the mountains, and to the hills, to the ravines, and to the valleys, Behold, I, even I WILL BRING a sword on you, and I WILL DESTROY your high places" (Ezekiel 6:2-3 (Masoretic)).
Prophecies can be about the present:
PROPHECIES can be about the PRESENT.
For example, it is written:
"Son of man, PROPHESY and say, So says the Lord: Say, A sword! A sword IS-BEING-SHARPENED and also IS-BEING-POLISHED! It IS-BEING-SHARPENED in order to slaughter a slaughter. It IS-BEING-POLISHED so that there may be a flash to it. Or shall we rejoice? You ARE-DESPISING the rod of My son, as if it were every tree" (Ezekiel 21:9-10).
"if they all PROPHESY, and some unbeliever or (an) uninstructed (one) comes-in, he-is-convicted by all. He-is-examined by all. The hidden (things of) his heart BECOME EVIDENT" (1 Corinthians 14:25).
Prophecies can be about the past:
PROPHECIES can be about the PAST.
For example, it is written:
"And Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah PROPHESIED against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because you HAVE-JOINED yourself with Ahaziah, Jehovah HAS-BROKEN your works. And the ships WERE-BROKEN, so that they DID NOT HOLD to go to Tarshish" (2 Chronicles 20:37).
Jesus said to a woman: "YOU-HAD five husbands" (John 4:18) to which the woman not having revealed that to Jesus, answered: "Sir, I-perceive that You are (a) PROPHET" (John 4:19)
